Hi! I'm Deyasini, although most people just call me Deya (pronounced They-a). I am an Early Modernist with a deep investment in premodern critical race, critical disability, and gender studies methodologies. I received my BA and MA in English from Jadavpur University in India, and my PhD in the department of English at Syracuse University, NY under the guidance of the amazing Dr. Stephanie Shirilan. I am currently working as a postdoctoral fellow in the department of English at the University of Toronto with Dr. Katherine Schaap Williams. I identify as a scholar and a teacher with interests in a diverse array of literary materials, genres, and approaches ranging from premodern English drama to contemporary film adaptations, whose works have received the support of numerous grants, travel awards, and fellowships from the Shakespeare Association of America, the Folger Institute in Washington DC, the Department of English at Syracuse University, the Renaissance Society of America, and the Humanities Center at Syracuse University. I am currently working on my first book, tentatively entitled "Infernall Monsters": The Cultivation of Difference through Race, Disability, and Gender in Early Modern England.
