Hi! I'm Deyasini, although most people just call me Deya (pronounced They-a). I am an Early Modernist with a deep investment in premodern critical race, critical disability, and gender studies methodologies. I received my BA and MA in English from Jadavpur University in India, and I am currently working on my PhD in the department of English at Syracuse University, NY under the guidance of the amazing Dr. Stephanie Shirilan. I identify as a scholar and a teacher with interests in a diverse array of literary materials, genres, and approaches ranging from premodern English drama to contemporary film adaptations. In the past few years, I have been working on a dissertation tentatively titled, "Negotiating Monstrosity in the Premodern World," with the support of numerous grants, travel awards, and fellowships from the Shakespeare Association of America, the Folger Institute in Washington DC, the Department of English at Syracuse University, ACMRS, and the Humanities Center at Syracuse University.
